Book: Love You, Mean It

Author: Jilly Gagnon

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Ballantine for an eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Ellie Greco runs the family deli. The deli has been in the family for many years. They get word that a big gourmet department store is potentially coming to town called Mangia. They fear Mangia will cause the deli to close up shop.

Ellie tries to do everything she can to stop this from happening. She goes as far as pretending to be Theo Taylor’s fiance. Theo Taylor is the son of the property manager who is selling to Mangia. She claims to be his fiance after Theo has a rough accident where a ceiling collapses on him causing him to lose his memory for a bit.

They go into a mutual agreement where they pretend to be fiances. Ellie does this in hopes of saving the family business but in comes Sam, Theo’s ex-girlfriend. Sam is convinced this relationship is not right and tries to get to the bottom of it. I felt that the story picked up once Sam entered the scene.

The only downfall I felt was that there wasn’t much growth from Ellie. I was rooting for her to go out and pursue her dreams but that part seemed to fall short.

This is a good spicy enemies-to-lovers story.

Final Score 4/5
