Book Review: Emma of 83rd Street
Book: Emma of 83rd Street
Author: Audrey Bellezza and Emily Harding
All the stars for this book! From the story to the gorgeous cover, this book has everything!
This story is a retelling of Jane Austen’s classic of Emma. It also gave me Clueless vibes at times. Emma and Nadine reminded me of Cher and Tai.
Emma lives on the Upper East Side of Manhattan with her dad. When she looks out her backyard she sees her childhood best friend George Knightley’s house.
I got the tension very quickly between her and Knightley. You could tell both of them cared about one another but were scared to say it out loud. The banter between both were very funny at times. I also love that we got to see Knightley’s POV throughout the story.
In the very beginning I wasn’t sure I was going to like Emma with the way she acted. She acted a bit selfish, but that immediately changed for me. I loved her and I loved watching her grow throughout the book. I was rooting for her by the end.
This is the perfect friends-to-lovers romance! All books need a Knightley.
Final Score: 5/5
