Book: Things We Hide From the Light

Author: Lucy Score

This is the second book in the Knockemout series. This can be read as a standalone but I feel like it would be better to learn about all the characters from the small town from the beginning.

This story follows Nash Morgan who is the chief of police in town. Nash has been at home recovering from a gunshot wound all while dealing with panic attacks that he doesn’t want anyone to know about, especially his family. Then in comes his new next-door neighbor Lina who is really charming and caring toward Nash. They fall into an instant connection that turns into a slow-burn romance. We find out that Lina has some secrets of her own, and she is in town for a reason.

I thought the story was good, but not very memorable. I love the small town of Knockemout and the side characters a lot more, especially Knox and Naomi.

While I enjoy Lucy Score’s writing I did find that this book dragged on for too long. It was very similar to the first book and while I loved the first book I just wanted this one to be different. I did love that we got some more hints on Lucian and Sloane. I am very excited to read the third book.

Final Score: 3/5
