Ginny Myers Sain does it again with her sophomore novel, Secrets So Deep. Her writing is incredible and draws you right into the story. She sets up every scene so vividly throughout the book.
nnThe story follows Avril a girl who tragically lost her mother twelve years ago. That same night Avril almost drowned, but thankfully was saved. Even though she was saved the traumatic event caused her to either forget or block out certain memories that she will later be trying to unlock.
nnTwelve years later she returns to the site of the incident, Whisper Cove. Whisper Cove is located off the Long Island Sound in Connecticut. It is an elite theater sleepover camp run by the famous screenplay writer, Willa Culver.
nnWhisper Cove is known for a ghost story about a woman in the ocean who whispers to girls to get them to come into the water every night in the fog.
nnAvril is determined to find the answers surrounding her mother's death. She is also trying to piece together all her memories to figure out what happened that night.
nnShe meets a great group of friends and forms a very tight-knit group. I love the way they all stick together and kept checking on Avril, especially since she was having a hard time dealing with all the memories that come pouring in. n
nAvril also meets Cole. She later finds out that she has known him since she was a little girl. They were inseparable when they were little, and the same goes for the present day. Even though Cole is having a hard time with the whispering and the fog, he never leaves Avril's side. They were truly an anchor for one another.
nnThis is a paranormal thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end. Each new clue and memory unlocked throws off everything you thought you had figured out about their tragic night.
nnFinal Score: 5/5
