The Apple Arcade List: Lego Star Wars Battles
Lego Star Wars Battles is a 1 v 1 multiplayer game available on Apple Arcade.

Lego Star Wars Battles is a unique take on the genre of 1 v 1 that Clash Royale pioneered. You build a deck of cards that all cost a different amount of energy. You have a max of 10 energy that slowly replenishes over time. You play those cards on the board and they come to life and battle it out.
n
The premise is simple but it’s hard to master. You have to learn how to use your energy properly. You need to consume energy in order to build towers. Towers are key to victory. Learning when it’s better to spend your energy on a card or a tower is what separates a lot of wins from losses.
n
This is in Apple Arcade so it does not have microtransactions but you definitely see the remnants of the free-to-play trappings with the number of cards there are to collect and upgrade. There are even two different currencies. It really feels like they just stripped out a way to spend money and put it on Apple Arcade.
n
After each victory you are awarded a chest to unlock. They all take time. Anywhere from 2-16 hours. A fun twist in opening them early is you can actually earn points to open them just by playing the game. If you don’t want to wait the few hours to open it, just play the game and win some matches.
n
This game also had the coolest animation for unlocking more cards. You shoot them open with a ship.
n
This is a multiplayer game that will have you go from smiling to trying not to throw your phone across the room. It’s as much frustrating as it is fun. The worst part about this one is when you lose you can’t tell yourself that your opponent probably spent a lot of money to get all the cards they wanted and that’s why they won. Apple Arcade takes that excuse away and every loss is because of how you acted in certain scenarios.

Verdict
nn
I love games like this. Quick 1 v 1 matches. Lego Star Wars Battles is my favorite simply because of the Apple Arcade model. Sure being a Star Wars game helps it top my list but the fact that you can’t just buy a good team and you have to use your brain makes this game a lot of fun.

Final score 8/10
