Tom Clancy is such a recognizable name. I feel anything with his name would interest me now. I love the movies, the games, the TV Shows, and of course the books. I have loved all of them that I read so far. This is the first Tom Clancy book that I read post his death in 2013. Unfortunately it seems to lack something to keep me truly hooked.

This is the 22nd book in the Op-Center series but works just fine as a stand-alone. It’s about a team of elite soldiers called Black Wasp. They take orders only from the president, no one else. They rescue a Chinese scientist but their victory is short-lived because they become hunted by Chinese assassins.

I really can’t pinpoint what it was but this book kept losing my focus. It was well written and the story was interesting but I still kept having to reread parts because it wasn’t holding my attention.

The story does a great job of really humanizing soldiers and showing us the impact of their decisions and just how impossible some of those decisions can be. n

If you like any Tom Clancy books or just a good military thriller this is definitely one to check out. n
