Today I learned Fast and Furious Spy Racers is a cartoon in the Fast and Furious universe. I never saw or heard of this before but I decided to check out the game. n

I’m going to be honest, when I loaded up a Fast and Furious game, this is not what I was expecting. I was immediately confused because it looked like a kid’s cartoon. After some research, that’s exactly what this was. My already low expectations went even lower at that moment. Happy to admit I was wrong. n
I am not good at racing games. I can never get a full grasp of the controls. All I do is crash and I usually do not have fun. There are exceptions to this, for example, Forza Horizon 5 was a racing game I really enjoyed. I can’t believe this next sentence but I’ll say it anyway. Fast and Furious Spy Racers is not a better game than Forza, but I did have more fun playing it. n

The controls and drifting in this game were extremely approachable and easy. Maybe that’s because the target audience is like a third my age but hey it made me feel great pulling off some fun drifts. n
There are also some interesting power-ups during the game. Since this has a target audience that’s young the violence is low. Instead of shooting bullets at your opponents, you can cover them in paint. It was a fun twist to what was expected.
The graphics have a cartoonish look to it which actually translates well to driving. It gives it a fun and interesting look while speeding around the courses.

There is a story mode to complete. It’s short, does not have too many cutscenes, and has very little context but it was still fun to play through.

Fast and Furious Spy Racers may be my biggest surprise of the year. I went in expecting to try a race or two, bounce off, and never think about this game again. I did not expect to play the entire campaign. If you like arcade racing games don’t sleep on this one. n
