The first thing I want to say about Slap Shot Rebound is I SUCK at this game. I would like to formally apologize to all of my teammates. I see how bad I am, I didn’t mean to score on our own goal, and I also don’t know how to score on purpose.

Ok with that out of the way, let’s break it all down. I love EA Sport NHL games and I am pretty good at them. This is nothing like that. It has a fun cartoon aesthetic and also has no rules. Instead of 5 verse 5 with a goalie, this game is 3 verse 3 with no goalie. It’s closer to something like Rocket League than an actual hockey game.n
There is no pass or shoot button you just have to control your player and rotate them to make contact with the puck. It works like those arcade hockey games where you have all the poles to pull and turn. That’s the idea here. n

After the face off chaos ensues as I try to not get in the way of my teammates, and do something positive with the puck. I’m getting better about this now but when I first started playing the game any time the puck would come near me I would start to panic and then totally miss the puck. I still miss the puck all the time but I do not panic as much.

I have scored a good amount of goals now and most of them were off something I did not mean to do. The excitement I feel when I score is unmatched in any game I am currently playing. The first one I scored was a shot from a teammate that I happen to skate in front of and redirect in. The truth about this was twofold, first, it was an accident, and second, the puck was going to go in anyway so I stole the goal with the redirect. I didn’t care though, it was my first one and I screamed with joy.

This is in early access so I do expect more modes to be added but even if they don’t add a thing, what’s here is a great package that I am looking forward to spending a lot more time with. n
