Hello and welcome back to another monthly mobile report. It’s still not too late to check out my report for June. This has been a good month for me and mobile gaming. This month my phone was my most used platform for games. So what were those games? Let’s get right into it.

Retro City Rampage DX ($4.99)n

This is a top down action game in the same vein of the original PlayStation One Grand Theft Auto games. It has beautiful pixel art and is a parody of pop culture from the 80s. It has crazy over the top action and is a great sandbox to get lost in and just have a good time. I have played this game on console and now mobile, and while its played best with a controller, it still is easy to pick up and play with touch controls and I highly recommend it.

Just mowing (Free)

The title says it all: you are just mowing lawns. As a homeowner that is constantly fighting with having nice grass, this was just a relaxing escape; just jump on a ride on mower and cut some grass. It’s a satisfying feeling in real life and just a zen moment in a video game. Don’t expect too much depth but I do recommend it for a relaxing escape.

Tetris (Free)

Tetris is a classic and has seen many iterations over the years. The official Tetris mobile app got a huge update that added a lot of fun ways to play. They added a battle royale mode similar to the Switch exclusive Tetris 99, but I am even more excited they added a live game where you compete for real money. There is a host who talks to you before the game much like the popular HQ trivia game and then the match begins. It’s been a game I have been playing every night to be a part of. It’s a free update so there no reason to not download it and try to win some money playing Tetris.

SpongeBob Patty Pursuit (Apple Arcade)

This was a game that we spoke about on Game Bites and I wrote a full review for, so I really loved it. It’s a great platformer that really understands it’s on a mobile platform so the touch controls are exceptionally good. Play as SpongeBob, save your friends, and stop Plankton. If you’re an Apple Arcade subscriber, don’t overlook this one because it is kid friendly, there is plenty of fun for an adult here. nn

Xenowerk Tactics ($6.99)

The original Xenowerk was a top down shooter which was a lot of fun so I was looking forward to trying this out. In Tactics, you command a group of troops and lead them across various areas to complete missions. The combat is simple, they will auto shoot and you trigger their abilities and move them around the area. Head back to camp and start upgrading and then go back out there. Its a fun loop and now with a recent update, you can download the game for free and try it before buying it. I don’t know how far you can go in that version but it will let you see the basics. This one I recommend for any strategy fans.
