You Always Come Back was an excellent thriller that I could not put down. This reminded me of What Lies in the Woods by Kate Alice Marshall, which is one of my top books of the year.
January Weaver returns home after one of her siblings tries to kill himself. Nine years ago it was her testimony that sent her father to prison and was convicted of being the Pacific Lake killer. Returning home she didn’t expect to find new information that had her questioning everything from nine years ago including her testimony.
This book has all the ingredients to be confusing. There are a lot of characters and two timelines. I expected to get lost but never did. This was because of not just the fantastic writing but also the character names. There are five siblings and they are named after the month they are born. For me, this just made it so much easier to remember who is who.
I found myself guessing the entire time trying to figure out the end and I kept thinking wrong. I didn’t see the twists coming and those are always the best twists. Definitely check out You Always Come Back!
