Book Review: The Last Housewife
Book: The Last Housewife
Author: Ashley Winstead
**This book has many trigger warnings. I would advise you to look them up before reading. **
This was a very good mystery with some very dark moments at times.
Shay and her best friends are in college together in upstate New York. They meet one of their roommate’s parents and they get invited over for dinner. The parent begins a very big web of lies to get them to believe that they are basically unworthy and women are only made to be a housewife. Taking care of all the housemaid duties as well as taking on all men’s requests.
The story goes back and forth between the past and the present time.
Fast forward eight years later, and Shay is listening to her favorite true crime podcast when she learns that she knows the podcast host and he has an episode out talking about her best friend Laurel, who is now missing. She gets in touch with him and they go on a quest to find her best friend.
The story is very twisted but it captivates you into wanting to know what will happen next. The ending will literally make your jaw drop.
Final Score: 4/5
