Thank you to NetGalley and Forever Pub for an eARC in exchange for my honest review.
Another great book by Abby! I immediately got drawn into the story and the lives of Xavier and Samantha. Xavier is a veterinarian who cares a lot for his patients. One day, Samantha comes into the office with a rescue kitten. It was an instant attraction for both of them. They go on a unique and fun date and they both didn’t want the night to end.
At the end of the date, we find out that the very next day, Samantha is moving across country to be with her family to help take care of her mom. This plays a big role in the story, and we get to know her family a lot more.
Samantha asks Xavier to remember her but to also move on because there is no way they can work as a couple. However, their feelings for one another are so strong that they both refuse to forget one another. Seeing the struggles of long-distance relationships also played a big role in the story, but it was done very well.
This storyline is on the heavier side as opposed to Abby’s backlist of books. I will say it is more of a women’s fiction book as opposed to a rom-com. It did, however, still have a few lighter laugh-out-loud moments. I will suggest you check the trigger warnings before reading.
Final score: 5/5
