Resort Romance is a short story and a prequel to the Lakeville Harbor series. I do not know the series and enjoyed this book, so I will say it works well as a standalone.
Jayce and Kelsey are exes, and they run into each other at a resort that holds a special meaning for them. They have so many memories together and with family at this resort, and are sad to find out that it is closing and this will be the last time they are there.
This is a short story, so things moved quickly. This was a ten-day trip, and by the end of day 1, it seemed that Jayce and Kelsey were right back where they used to be. This is not a problem, and it’s just the nature of a short story, but I would have loved to learn more about them.
Short stories barely resonate with me because I feel I don’t have enough time with a character to become attached, but Samantha Chase found a way to make me feel connected to both Jayce and Kelsey very quickly. This did not have the typical short story problems for me. Of course, I do wish it were longer, but what we got, I loved.
Final score: 4/5
