Samantha Chase continues to be an instant read for me. I love her stories and her characters, and she is truly a master of her trade. Resort Fling continues the Lakeview Harbor series. Series like this, with different main characters in each book, generally work well as standalones. Personally, I can see this working as a standalone, but this is stronger as a series. The plot continues from the prequel book and goes throughout. A group of friends are remodeling a resort. This time, Axel takes the main stage as the male lead. 

Axel was such a strong character in book one, so I was happy he got his time to shine. As a lead, I did end up liking him a little less than when he was a supporting character. The female lead, Maisie, also had some annoyances for me, so maybe that’s just one reason they deserve each other. 

Maisie interviews for the designer position at the resort, and Axel is the one in charge of the interviews. A storm knocks out power and takes down some trees, leaving both of them stranded together at the resort. Seeing how quickly things go from zero to sixty with them was fun. 

Maisie has a lot of family issues she is hiding from Axel. This is a plot point I was not fond of for some specific reasons. Those reasons would get a little spoilerly, so I won’t discuss them here, but just know that at times I was visibly angry with Maisie. 

I am loving this series and cannot wait for book 3. I’m excited to see who the lead will be in our next adventure.
