Book Review: Play Dirty
Book: Play Dirty
Author: Lora Leigh
Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for an advanced audio copy.
Play Dirty follows Poppy and Jack over many years. Poppy saved Jack when she was seven and then Jack always tried to keep Poppy safe. This book was a jack of all trades, master of none for me. Was this a romance book? Was this a thriller? Was this a science fiction book? It’s a little bit of everything but did not fully excel in one aspect.
Jack is supposed to be the hero in this story but while reading it I just kept asking myself, are we supposed to like Jack? Jack is not likable. He is not a good person and I do not feel he was good to Poppy. He gave off creepy stalker vibes more than the hero next door vibes that I was expecting.
This was my first book by Lora Leigh and this is the first book in a new series. I don’t know which way I am leaning if I would want to continue the series but I do want to check out something else by this author. There were moments in this book that were great and I would love to try again with Lora Leigh.
Final score: 3/5
