Book: Great Big Beautiful Life

Author: Emily Henry

A huge thank you to the incredible Berkley Romance for an early free eARC!

The story follows Alice Scott, who is a writer for The Scratch, and Hayden Anderson, who is a well-established journalist. They are in Georgia at Little Crescent Island, both hoping to get the chance to write the life story of a once-well-known socialite named Margaret Ives, who was in all the tabloids and always in the public eye. Now, at 80 years old, she agrees that it is time to tell her life story.

The story goes back and forth from following the present time of both writers to the family drama and life story of Margaret. I will say in the beginning, I wasn’t into Margaret’s story, but I would say about 40% through, I became fully invested.

I was immediately drawn to the present storyline of Hayden and Alice. I really liked both characters. I think I’ll now always see the back corner table or booth at restaurants and think of Hayden.

This story is definitely different from any other Emily Henry books that I have read, but it has everything you need, from family drama to an emotional romance.

It is definitely up there for my favorite by Emily Henry!

Final Score: 4.5/5
