Book: Beach House Rules

Author: Kristy Woodson Harvey

Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for an eARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is the perfect beach read!

I devoured this book from start to finish. I was completely invested in all the characters, and I couldn’t wait to see how each of their stories would unfold. We get three POVs, each chapter stating whose POV it is. We meet Charlotte, Ben’s wife, who is currently in jail for fraud. Everyone believes he is innocent, but they have to wait for the evidence to come through.

Charlotte feels hopeless and is just trying to find a job for the time being to provide for her fourteen-year-old daughter, since their assets are frozen.

The next POV is Iris, who is Charlotte and Ben’s daughter. We get her POV on high school life as well as her current family situation.

Lastly, we get Alice’s POV. Alice owns a beach house that was once a bed and breakfast, which has now evolved into what is famously known as “The Mommune” around town. Alice gets a bad rep around town as well since we find out she was married three times, and all three men are dead.

Alice takes in Charlotte and Iris to live with her at the Mommune to help them during their situation. Two other women with children also live at the Mommune: Grace and Julie, whom we learn more about throughout the story.

I was skeptical at first about the Mommune, but as the story progressed, I grew to love them. They became such a close-knit found family that it warms your heart. The friendship these women form is evident, and it is a bond that will be unbreakable. You could tell they all needed each other at that point. It was meant to be. I absolutely loved that part of the story.

This may be one of my top summer beach reads!

Final Score: 5/5
