The Night Shift is a face paced novel that takes place over the course of three days, with some flashbacks to similar events from fifteen years ago. The book will keep you guessing all the way up until the very end. You will fly through this book thanks to the great chapter design. Each chapter is from a different character’s perspective making it very hard to put down, you always wanted to know where it was going next and from whose point of view. This was a great thriller with well developed characters, and some of the character’s actions stuck with me long after I closed the book.

The Night Shift is a murder mystery that spans 15 years. The book starts with a gruesome murder at a Blockbuster Video where multiple teens are killed. There is a single survivor of the attack who later becomes one of the main characters in the present day. History repeats itself and 15 years later there is another brutal attack, again with a single survivor.

This book throws a lot of characters at you with some similar names which did get confusing. Lucky for me, I was listening to the audiobook and each character is narrated by a different performer so the different voices really helped me distinguish who was who.

The story takes place in New Jersey which is where we currently live. Being familiar with some of the towns and locations really resonated with me and definitely bumped up my enjoyment of the book.

There are a lot of twists and turns and big reveals throughout the book. Some you will see coming and others will really surprise you. Overall the story was great and for me the location was relatable. This is a book I will recommend to anyone.
