Colbie lost her husband Phil on their wedding day. A year later she goes on a weekend getaway on what would be her anniversary. She goes with three of her friends to help keep her mind off of Phil and continue the healing process.

The group of friends Colbie is away with I found a little strange. Most normal is her best friend and her “Man of Honor” James. Then we start to get a little weirder. Eric, Phil’s best friend, who has becomes almost like Colbie’s best friend now. Then the weirdest one, Miles, who was the wedding singer. She did not know Miles before the wedding but grew close with him over the last year.

On their wedding day they had people write letters for them to open on their one-year anniversary. Colbie and the three guys do this and the last letter they open is from Phil. It seemed Phil knew he was in trouble and now his death which was originally ruled accidental suddenly feels suspicious.

nn

The book goes back and forth between the current time and a year prior for the wedding. When going back and forth you realize that all three men seem suspicious on the wedding day.

As Colbie digs deeper I really enjoyed how things were playing out.

nn

At first, I really liked the end but that quickly faded away. I like what Modglin went for I just wish it went all the way. I do not like where Colbie is when the story ends.

nn

Even though in my opinion this missed the ending it was still a fun read and I highly recommend it.

Final score 4/5
