Book: The Housemaid’s Wedding

Author: Frieda McFadden

Thank you, NetGalley and Dreamscape Select, for an advanced audio copy.

I’ll start with I am a huge Frieda McFadden fan. There have not been many full-length books of hers that I haven’t liked. The Housemaid’s Wedding is not a full story; this is very short, and I struggled to enjoy my time with it.

I love the housemaid series and both Milie and Enzo, so I thought learning about their wedding day would be fun. I think the nature of the story and the length just left a lot to be desired. Although an attempt was made to build suspense, there was really none. Millie is threatened on her wedding day and receives phone calls saying she will be killed. Sounds great, but she just kept going about her day, and the suspense did not ramp up.

Millie and Enzo get married, and then we are left with an epilogue to clean up the main conflict. It just seemed like an odd choice to me.

I am always glad to receive more stories from Frieda, and I’m happy to spend more time with Enzo and Millie. I wish the time were worth it.

Final score: 3/5
