Book: Summer Ever After

Author: Kortney Keisel

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an advanced audio copy.

Summer Ever After is part of the Falling for Summer series but it will work just fine as a standalone. This story takes place on a fictional island off the coast of Florida, Sunset Harbor.

This is now my third book in the Sunset Harbor series and While this was still a great story this is my least favorite so far. My problem was mostly with Jane. Jane wants to find love but doesn’t want to leave the island. She goes on what she calls the summer of Jane, where she tries to create chemistry with every man on the island using romance tropes. My issue was with how desperate it came off and continued to be through most of the story. Jane was a good character and very likable but this just annoyed me.

Walker is her best friend’s brother whom she has been in love with forever but refuses to admit her feelings due to a promise she made her friend when they were kids. Walker is only on the island to work on himself and his golf career and then is looking to return to reality. I liked Walker and I respected why he was trying to push Jane away at certain points but even during both of them going through their enemies-to-lovers phase Jane was still desperately trying to find love with anyone she could find.

Maybe I just have had too many summer books in a row and I am having some Sunset Harbor fatigue. I would love to come back to this book in a few months and evaluate it.

Final Score 4/5
