Book: Her Husband’s Mistake

I have read a few books by Daniel Hurst and I love his short thrillers with twists and turns around every corner. Her Husband’s Mistake was a great thriller but it lacked the twist I have become so used to from Daniel Hurst.

Jack and Lorna used to live in New York but something happened that made them leave and go back home to London. Years later their adult children want a trip to New York for their birthday and Jack and Lorna reluctantly take them. Both kids get taken as Jack and Lorna’s past mistakes in New York catch up to them. Lorna is given a choice, she must kill her husband to save her children. 

My biggest problem with this book was just that I was expecting more. The book delivers on exactly that premise. Too much was given away and there were not enough unknowns as we got deeper into the story. For example, the summary tells you the kids will be taken, but I don’t think that happened until after the halfway point. 

As with all of Hurst’s books, this one is extremely well written. This may not be my favorite by the author but it’s still a quick and fun thriller.
